Cast Off: Everything You Need to Know Before Race Day

Dear Participants,

The 24th hella marathon night rostock is fast approaching, and we are delighted to have you on board. To help you arrive fully prepared, we have put together the most important information for your race.

So, stow your gear, set your compass and get ready to run!

1. Pre-race

Event Venue and Getting There

Event Venue and Getting There

The event venue is located on the Haedge Peninsula in Rostock’s city harbour. We recommend travelling by public transport operated by RSAG:

  • By tram: Take tram 1, 4, 5 or 6 to Kröpeliner Tor. From there, it is approximately an eight-minute walk.
  • By car: Parking is available at Am Strande, An der Fischerbastion—access via Am Strande—or in the City underground car park, accessed via Lange Straße.

Please note that the Stadthafen car park will not be available due to preparations for the Hanse Sail.

Race Materials Pickup
You can collect your race materials at the event venue at the following times:

  • Friday, 31 July 2026: 4:00–7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, 1 August 2026: 12:00 noon–6:30 p.m.

Please bring a valid photo ID and the email containing your start number. To ensure a smooth and efficient collection process, please state your start number at arrival. Please note that bib numbers may not be transferred to another person.

Your participant bag can be collected in the tent next door from our partners dm and Physiorelax.

You may also collect another participant’s race pack. To do so, you will need:

  • a copy of the participant’s photo ID
  • a signed letter of authorisation
  • the email containing their start number.
Using Your Race Materials
Your bib number must be worn unchanged and clearly visible on the front of your running clothing. Safety pins will be available at the venue if required.

Timing will be carried out exclusively using the transponder integrated into your bib number. Please do not bend, fold or remove it. The transponder does not need to be returned after the race.

Your bib number also includes a small detachable tag. Please use this to label your bag if you wish to use the free bagdropoff.

Existing BMS timing chips will not be used for this event. However, participants who have registered a BMS chip will not be charged the additional timing fee.

Shake Out Run powered by Running City Tours

Shake Out Run powered by Running City Tours

Loosen up your muscles on the evening before the race together with our friends from Running City Tours and get ready for race day. The Shake Out Run on Friday evening takes you on an almost six-kilometre route, giving you a first taste of both the course and the city.

Different pace groups ensure that everyone can run at their own comfortable pace. Refreshments after the run and free bag storage will also be provided.

Participants who pre-ordered the official event shirt during registration can collect it from the tent next to the race pack collection area.

A limited number of shirts will also be available to purchase at the event for €30, while stocks last. Please note that payment is by cash only.

Head Torches and Chest Lights
As this is an evening race and parts of the course will be run after dark, good visibility is essential. We therefore recommend that all marathon and half-marathon participants carry a head torch or chest light, particularly if their expected finish time is longer than 3 hours 30 minutes for the marathon or 2 hours for the half marathon.

Course and refreshment stations

Course and refreshment stations

Due to construction work and officially imposed closures around the Warnow, adjustments have had to be made to both the marathon and half-marathon courses. There was not enough time to have the revised courses officially remeasured in accordance with the strict requirements of World Athletics. As a result, performances achieved on these courses will not be eligible for inclusion in official ranking lists this year. Thank you for your understanding.

All courses will be clearly marked with signs, route markings and course marshals. Course maps are available here.

Depending on the race, aid stations along the course will provide hella naturell (still mineral water), hella Pink Grapefruit (low-calorie soft drink with grapefruit flavour), and bananas.
