Let’s get you started

Everything you need to know

Ahoy dear participants,

The 23rd hella marathon nacht rostock is casting its shadow ahead and we are delighted that you are on board. To ensure that you are well prepared for race day, we would like to provide you with this important participation information. And then set the flag and trim the sails!

1. Pre-start

Venue & Arrival

Venue & Arrival

The venue is located on the Haedge peninsula in Rostock’s city harbour. Please take a look at the site plan for better orientation. We recommend using the RSAG public transport system to get to the venue:

  • Tram to Kröpeliner Tor (Tram 1, 4, 5 & 6) – from there it is approx. 8 minutes on foot
  • Car: Am Strande car park, An der Fischerbastion (access via Am Strande) or City underground car park (access via Lange Straße)
Race materials pick-up

You will receive your race materials on site at the following times:

  • Fri, 1 August 2025, 16.00–19.00 hrs
  • Sat. 2 August 2025, 12.00–18.30 hrs

You will need the e-mail with your start number in digital or printed form to collect it. Please state your race number to ensure a smooth process.

Use of the race materials

Use of the race materials

The bib number must be worn unaltered and visible on the front of your sportswear – on request, you can obtain safety pins to attach it on site. Only a transponder integrated in your race number will be used for timekeeping. This may not be bent or removed. It will not be returned after the race.

The bib number also contains a small, detachable section which you should use to mark your luggage for use in the free bag drop-off.

Note: Any BMS chips will not be used, but will save you the timing fees.

The official event shirt

The official event shirt

If you have pre-ordered the official event shirt with your registration, you will receive it in the tent next to the race materials pick-up. If you have not pre-ordered one, you can purchase one on site for 30.00 euros – while stocks last. Please note that only cash payment is possible.

Head or chest lamp

Good visibility is essential on an evening run when darkness falls. We therefore recommend that all marathon and half marathon runners make sure they have sufficient light in the form of a head or chest lamp, especially if the finishing time is over 3:30 h (marathon) or 2:00 h (half marathon).

2. When things are getting started

The following starts will take place on the event site on the Haedge peninsula:

5.00 pm – Kids run (approx. 1.5 km)

7.07 pm – Rostock 7 (approx. 7.3 km)

The half marathon will start at the toll station (Krummendorf) near the Warnow Tunnel:

All competitions have the same finish at the event centre. The finish line closes at 11.30 pm.

For all half marathoners: Don't miss the ferry, man!

For all half marathoners: Don’t miss the ferry, man!

Due to the lack of parking facilities at the start of the half marathon, we recommend using the free ferry shuttle, which will take you from the event centre to near the start. From there it is only a 10 minute walk. The departure times are 6.00 pm, 6.15 pm, 6.30 pm and 6.45 pm. Only half-marathoners with a bib number are allowed to board, accompanying persons are not permitted due to limited capacity. Please note that there is no race materials pick-up at the start of the half marathon.

If you still prefer to travel by public transport, we recommend the following routes:

  • From the city centre:
Tram 1 (Kröpeliner Tor → Dierkower Kreuz), bus 45 (Dierkower Kreuz → Rostock Krummendorf), on foot (Rostock Krummendorf → toll station)
  • From Schmarl:
Bus 49 (Rostock-Lütten Klein S-Bahn station → Rostock Seehafen ferry), bus 45 (Rostock Seehafen ferry → Rostock Krummendorf), on foot (Rostock Krummendorf → toll station)

Crossing the Warnow Tunnel on foot or by bicycle is expressly prohibited! Please warm up outside the tunnel. Please use the mobile toilets provided and do not relieve yourself on the Warnow crossing site. We are all guests here. This naturally applies to all public areas.

Course & course supply

Course & course supply

Due to short-term construction work and officially ordered road closures in the Warnow area, the marathon and half marathon courses will be adjusted. An exact re-measurement according to the strict specifications of World Athletics is not possible in the short term, so that the courses will not be exactly measured. We ask for your understanding. All routes are visibly marked with signs, route markings and organisers.

Depending on the competition, up to 13 refreshment points with still mineral water, isotonic refreshment drink with grapefruit flavour and bananas await you on the course:

  • Marathon:
    KM 4.2 – KM 11.5 – KM 13.5 – KM 16.7 – KM 19.5 – KM 21.1 – KM 24.7 – KM 28.7 – KM 30.6 – KM 33.2 – KM 34.7 – KM 36.5 – KM 39.3
  • Half marathon:
    KM 3.5 – KM 7.3 – KM 9.4 – KM 11.8 – KM 13.1 – KM 15.1 – KM 17.8
  • Finish: hella naturell and other varieties from the hella range, fruit and beer.

The course maps including the positions of the supply points can be viewed here.

Attention: No bus at the end of the field of participants

There will be no bus picking up quitters and the end of the field of participants. So if you drop out of the race, you will have to arrange your own return to the event centre.

Pacemaker

Pacemaker

Once again this year, our pacemakers will help you to achieve your desired time. Look out for runners with the beach flags in the start area. One or two pacemakers will take care of the following finish times:

Marathon: 3:30 – 3:45 – 4:00 – 4:15 – 4:30 – 5:00
Half marathon: 1:45 – 2:00 – 2:15

Changing rooms & sanitary facilities

Changing rooms and toilets are available for use on the site. Additional mobile toilets are located at all aid stations and at the start of the half marathon.
Shower facilities will be available on site.

Participant photos

Participant photos

Please smile! Participant photos will be taken at various locations along the course and will be offered for sale after the run. The following points must be observed for data protection-compliant allocation and assignment:

  • The bib number must be worn on the front of the outermost layer of sportswear and must not be covered.
  • Your personal photos will probably be available on Sunday evening at www.getpica.com and will only be accessible to you.
  • A short registration is necessary for this. Then enter your personal PICA code, which you will find next to the QR code on the bib number, e.g. AB123XY45.

Once you have registered, you will receive an email if more photos of you have been uploaded. If you lose your personal PICA code, please write a message to the responsible colleagues at info(at)sportonline-foto.de. Registration on Getpica.com using an alphanumeric code instead of the start number guarantees all participants that their privacy will be respected in accordance with the applicable data protection regulations of the European Union.

We hope you enjoy browsing.
